Creative Harvest is an engaging ‘open edible garden festival’, celebrating its eighth year on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January, 2025, 10am-4pm.
This event welcomes gardening enthusiasts and novices of all ages to explore privately owned gardens dedicated to growing food, providing inspiration and valuable tips for cultivating their own sustainable food patches.
Set across West Gippsland, Creative Harvest showcases twelve flourishing edible gardens, ranging from small backyards to large kitchen gardens each rich with ideas and personality.
A key highlight is the opportunity to interact with passionate garden owners who share their expertise. Visitors can learn practical techniques for growing a variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruits while adopting eco-friendly practices.
In-garden talks will include companion planting, organic pest control, composting, no-dig gardening and building healthy soils, all designed to enhance gardening skills and yields.
The event also features a vibrant atmosphere with local artists and creatives. Attendees can enjoy art installations and demonstrations that celebrate the fusion of gardening and creativity, inspiring them to add artistic flair to their own gardens.
Workshops at Yarragon Hall are a growing aspect of the event, offering diverse topics such as food preserving, medicinal herbs, sustainable flower arranging, and sourdough for everyone. These sessions cater to all ages and skill levels, ensuring everyone leaves with practical knowledge to apply at home.
Creative Harvest emphasises community engagement, encouraging visitors to connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts. A downloadable garden map will indicate which gardens are wheelchair accessible, pet-friendly, and have food or coffee vendors.
There will also be numerous activities for children, and entry for kids is free.
More than just an event, Creative Harvest 2025 is a celebration of sustainable living, community and creativity in gardening. Attendees will gain invaluable insights and inspiration to cultivate their green spaces, making it a must-attend for anyone passionate about growing their own food.
